“Getting things done more efficiently is a big part of what 8base is about. We understand the importance of fostering core capabilities without getting sidetracked a million times a day. Handling cold email outbound and deliverability in-house would mean just that – it would have been a frustrating, roundabout way to achieve a goal. So, for our own peace of mind, we wanted someone as capable and savvy as Senders to take care of that for us.”

Momofuku

Founded by chef David Chang, Momofuku is a renowned culinary brand with a nation-wide presence, including restaurants and an online store with delicious goods. They ran into an issue with their email sending – high bounce rates and blocked sending. With hundreds of thousands of people on their email lists eager to stay informed, and an impeccable reputation to uphold, Momofuku wanted to nip this problem in the bud quickly.

  • Momofuku reached out to Senders to run a diagnostic test on their sending infrastructure and find the root cause
  • Senders deliverability experts discovered an issue with their DMARC, which was preventing emails from being sent, as their WordPress wasn't aligned with their SPF
  • Senders provided the most effective solution helping Momofuku restore safe sending, and suggested next steps to ensure everything keeps running smoothly on their end
  • The client reported that Senders helped identify the problem and got them back on track

Andrew Yeung

Where many others see a problem, Andrew sees an opportunity. His work may center around product leadership at Google (and previously Meta), but his true calling is all about bringing brilliant change-makers together.

How it started: Andrew hosted small-scale dinners for a handful of people at the peak of the pandemic in NYC, to enable safe connections during the most isolating times. How it’s going: His events now count as many as 2,000 tech leaders each, and he has set up 100+ such parties for more than 15,000 people in the past couple of years. Andrew understands that if two minds are better than one, putting two thousand together, preferably in the same room, can make a profound difference.

Given the impact of his community-building efforts, people want him to be able to reach out – and email is often the best way to do so. So, we helped out a bit.

  • Andrew came across deliverability issues that prompted him to get in touch with Senders and look into the best possible solutions
  • The Senders team made the necessary domain configuration adjustments, with a focus on the domain’s email authentication settings to enhance security and deliverability
  • The SPF record was updated to include “Brevo” (Sendinblue) to strengthen authentication and reduce the chance of landing emails into spam
  • The DMARC policy update enabled better readability of DMARC reports for human analysts, which is essential for preventing email spoofing and phishing
  • Senders fixed the missing DKIM setup with Google, so that it now shows the email hasn’t been tampered with in transit
  • As a result, the client now has better, more stable email deliverability and security

Naturally, they wanted to make sure their email sending infrastructure was set up correctly to protect their reputation and successfully reach their recipients. Our deliverability team worked with the client’s team on:

  • Aligning the client’s three domains with Amazon to make sure they are compatible and optimized in order to integrate with Amazon’s system
  • Setting up a proper DMARC policy to protect their domains against unauthorized use and phishing scams
  • Enhancing email deliverability as well as security, so that each email sent from these domains can be properly authenticated and more likely to land in the right inbox
  • As a result, the client can protect the reputation of their business and domains, while safely sending out their email campaigns

Physician’s Choice

Sometimes the sheer number of options of any product can be daunting – how on earth do you pick the right one? This is especially true with supplements, as we can find them just about anywhere, but we can rarely understand a third of the ingredients listed. Unlike most, Physician’s Choice provides supplements with pure, potent ingredients that work. No fillers or “proprietary” blends with unidentified ingredients. They do the research, so you don’t have to.

  • The client’s team spotted issues with DMARC failures in Google Postmaster
  • The Senders deliverability team worked with the client to update the DMARC configuration to enable report collection
  • The client is now able to obtain detailed reports to diagnose the exact causes of the failures and prevent them in the future with proper DMARC setup

Use Cases

It’s more than just keeping your emails out of spam – our approach protects your domain reputation, while helping you grow your sales pipeline with valuable, relevant prospects. Our infrastructure + methodology enable you to scale your cold campaigns safely and focus on engagement and closing deals.

Senders Protocol works for every kind of email, including your newsletter and opt-in marketing campaigns. Setting up and keeping your sending systems in good shape will boost your inbox placement, and free up your time to focus on strategy and creative – although we can help with those, too.

If you’re using email as one of your main internal communication channels – sending out employee newsletters, company announcements, invites, etc – deliverability matters here, too. Our methodology focuses on safety across the board, so your internal emails can grow on pace with your team, and always land where they need to.

Time-sensitive, system-triggered emails are a crucial part of your customer experience, as well as your overall reputation. To make sure they arrive on time (every time) and land in the inbox, Senders optimizes your infrastructure and separates transactional from marketing or cold emails (using subdomains/IPs), preventing one from harming the other’s performance.

FAQ

Deliverability and Strategy

How is Senders different from other similar companies?

Unlike most other companies, we don’t use Google or Microsoft to send, which reduces the risk of reputation damage or your emails landing in spam.

Why should I use Apollo?

Apollo enables us to use Sendgrid and other proprietary tech tools for safe sending, without having to rely on Google’s infrastructure.

Who is Senders ICP?

We work with small to medium-sized B2B companies across various industries (many of our clients are SaaS), mainly in the US, Canada, and the EU.

What is your pricing structure?

Our pricing varies depending on each client’s needs, but our deliverability service starts at $1200. You can learn more about our pricing here.

Which platform do you use to send out the emails?

We manage the infrastructure without owning the sending platform. Instead, we connect with platforms like SendGrid.

How long does it take to reach the full volume of sending?

With our warming protocols to protect deliverability, it takes 7 weeks or more depending on the time of year – holidays may extend the process.

Are the replies automatically encoded?

No, your Strategist/Account Manager does that manually.

What does warm-up mean?

Among other things, warming entails gradually increasing the volume of emails sent from a new email domain/subdomain to build a positive sending reputation with Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

If we’re paying for three senders why do we only get Strategy services on one?

We have defined the Strategy service in a way to provide maximum value for each client despite the number of senders you may have. While the Strategist will dedicate their expertise to one sender, you can always leverage that knowledge to optimize performance for the other senders, as well.

How can you ensure that someone who has already replied isn't emailed again?

Apollo automatically disqualifies (removes) anyone that either replied, bounced or unsubscribed from the email sequence.

How do you handle email testing?

We always provide at least two email variants for the most important steps in your sequence (such as step one and step three), so that we can track their performance and spot best-performing email variants for different target groups. We also test out different subject lines and react quickly if we notice any drops in performance, so we can adjust the copy while campaigns are running.

What are “email sequences”?

An email sequence is a series of emails (at least two, usually no more than five) that we send out to a specific target group, several days apart, depending on our agreement with you. We call the first email “the first step” of the sequence, while the second email is called “a nudge” and is usually a short follow-up we send a couple of days after the first. The number of steps (emails) in a sequence depends on your industry, target audience, and your goal, so we adapt the approach specifically to your business and outreach goals.

Can we ramp-up faster?

We have done extensive experiments, and over time, we have seen that the best, safest way forward is slowly and gradually ramping up by increasing the sending volume by 25 emails per day. We do not recommend ramping up faster, as it may affect your reputation and overall deliverability.

Why do we need to set up email filters on our receiving end?

Usually, forwarded emails tend to “break” the technical backend such as SPF, DKIM (your email authentication methods) and that can send emails to spam. To prevent that, we make sure that any email that is forwarded from our system to your mailbox will end in your inbox – this is where setting up those filters correctly makes all the difference.

Copywriting

What will you base your email copy on for my campaigns?

We have a discovery form you can fill out to give us specific information that you’d like us to include in the strategy and the copy. That also includes your targeting goals, as well as examples of emails you like or have had success with in the past. We combine that information with our own internal best practices based on the thousands of emails we’ve written and sent over the years. On top of that, we pick out the best-performing approaches for your industry, customize them to your needs, and test them out for you, as well.

What if I don’t like the email copy you provide?

We always go through as many rounds of edits and changes as we need to create the kind of emails you will be happy with. However, we also track your campaigns’ performance to jump in and adapt the copy over time so that we can maximize your results.

Do you send the same emails to all target audiences?

We don’t. To maximize deliverability and to make sure each target group receives the kind of message they will be most likely to respond to, we tailor the emails to each of your target groups. Sometimes, there will be some overlaps in the core message and your value proposition, but we will vary the language for better deliverability.

Can we include links in the email copy?

In some emails and some steps, we can include links to your website and to specific pages you want people to visit (such as sign-up pages). However, we strive to create a balance between emails with and without links to see which ones perform better for your specific target audience. And of course, we always want to include unsubscribe/opt-out links in emails.

How important is email copy for deliverability?

Email copy is an important part of ensuring high deliverability for your campaigns, but it is definitely not the only segment we’re taking care of and tracking. The better the copy is and the better your product-market fit, the greater the engagement will be, so we do our best to create engaging copy that will improve open rates, click-through rates, and replies.

Do you use AI for copywriting?

No, we don’t use AI for writing our emails. We have a team of exceptional strategists and writers that work together with you to create the kind of copy you will be happy with, aligned with our best practices and years of experience.

Is copywriting included in all your deliverability services?

Email copywriting is considered an add-on. While it is included in the strategy service, it is not part of our deliverability-only service tier called Protocol. If you need help with copywriting, however, but you don’t want the full strategy service, we can provide a dedicated copywriter for as many sessions as you need, either to write the copy for you from scratch, or to review/adjust your existing copy to make it deliverability-friendly. You can learn more about all the available add-ons on our Pricing page.

Partnerships

Do you whitelabel?

We typically don’t do whitelabel partnerships, unless it is the only solution that makes sense for everyone involved.

How can I be part of your Partnership community?

You can reach out to us via our Partnerships page to express interest and meet our Partnership Manager, Aurora. During that call, you can share your goals, get a better idea of the criteria for joining and learn more about the program itself. If there’s a fit, you can proceed with the application. We also like our partners to stay engaged for ongoing collaboration, to make sure everyone can benefit from the relationship.
